Today the Hope Creek Methodist School from the Stann Creek District visited the National Assembly for an educational tour of the Building and its function. They arrived at 3:30 P.M. and were escorted to the galleries in the Chamber were the presentation takes place. The group comprised of 62 students ranging from standard 4, 5, and 6, 3 teachers and 10 parents. The presentation was done by Ms. Ingrid Soriano and Ms. Mary August, Parliamentary Officer 1 where by the students were given a brief description of the historical background of the National Assembly, the composition of the House of Representatives, the Senate, and the functions of the legislative branch of government. The students also had the privilege of seeing the Mace and were given a brief history of its historical background of the design and the significant role it plays in the sitting of the House of Representatives.
At the end of the presentation the students asked various questions and were also tested by Ms. Soriano asking them questions to see if they had learned anything. Kudos to the students who answered all questions correctly.
