On Wednesday, 29th June 2022, the Senate met in the Chambers of the National Assembly for a Special Sitting. The meeting began at 9:00 A.M. with the Belizean Prayer by Senator Bevinton Cal. Shortly after, the Clerk administered the Oath of Allegiance to temporary Senators Linsford Castillo who was the alternate for Senator Collet Montejo, Senator Cornelio Acosta, alternate for Senator Christopher Coye, and Senator Sheena Pitts, alternate for Senator Michael Peyrefitte.
The Orders of the Day was a rather short one as it entailed the following:
Bill brought from the House of Representatives.
Belize Companies Bill, 2022, was introduced and passed .
Paper.
No. 27/1/14 -Hol Chan Marine Reserve Annual Budget for financial year April 1, 2022, to March 31, 2023, was ordered to lie on the Table.
MOTIONS
- International Bank for Reconstruction and Development – Belize COVID-19 Response Project – (US$6.2 Million) Loan Motion, 2022.
- Resolution Authorising the Ratification by Belize of the Protocol to Amend the Revised Treaty of Chaguaramas Establishing the Caribbean Community, including the CARICOM Single Market and Economy to Allow Enhanced Cooperation Among Member States and to Address Related Issues Motion, 2022.
- Resolution Authorising the Ratification by Belize of the Protocol to Amend Article 32 of the Revised Treaty of Chaguaramas Establishing the Caribbean Community, including the CARICOM Single Market and Economy Motion, 2022.
The above mentioned three (3) Motions were adopted.
