The Senate convened in the Chambers of the National Assembly Building in Belmopan today for a Special Sitting of the Senate. The meeting began at 10:00 A.M. with the Prayers done by the Honourable Carolyn Trench-Sandiford, President of the Senate. On the days agenda were 5 Motions that were adopted. Those are:
1. Resolution Authorizing the Ratification by Belize of the United Nations Convention on the Recognition and Enforcement of Foreign Arbitral Awards Motion, 2021;
2. Resolution Authorizing the Ratification by Belize of the Agreement Between the Government of Belize and the Government of the United Arab Emirates on Economic Cooperation Motion, 2021;
3. Resolution Authorizing the Ratification by Belize of the Agreement Between the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) and the Government of the Republic of Venezuela on Trade and Investment Motion, 2021;
4. Resolution Authorizing the Ratification by Belize of the Agreement on Trade, Economic and Technical Cooperation Between the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) and the Government of the Republic of Colombia and its Protocol Motion, 2021; and
5. Resolution Authorizing the Ratification by Belize of the Agreement Establishing the Free Trade Area Between the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) and the Dominican Republic and its Protocol Motion, 2021.
All Members of the Senate were present at today’s Special Sitting. The Senate was adjourned at 1:24 P.M.
