Today, the Senate Special Select Committee met once again in the Chamber of the National Assembly of Belize in Belmopan, to continue with their investigation into the Auditor General’s Special Visa and other findings Report on the Immigration and Nationality Department for period 2011-2013.
At today’s hearing, three witnesses were present to give their testimony on the Auditor General’s Report on Visa and Passports and Nationality. The first witness to take the stand was Mr. Edgar Cano, Senior Immigration Officer, accompanied by his Attorney, Mr. Dickie Bradley.Shortly after the Committee was through with interrogating Mr. Cano, Mrs. Candelaria Saldivar Morter, Former Chief Executive Officer at the Immigration Department, presented herself readily to give her testimony. Mrs. Morter wasn’t accompanied by any Attorney. After the Committee had done their interrogation with Mrs. Candelaria, the last one to take the stand was Ms. Teresita Castellanos, Former Finance Officer at the Immigration Department. Ms. Castellanos was accompanied by her Attorney, Mr. Brandon Usher.
All Committee Members were present at today hearing, Chairman- Senator Aldo Salazar, Senator Carla Barnett, Senator Elena Smith, Senator Eamon Courtenay (although he had to dismiss himself at midday), Senator Markhelm Lizarraga and Senator Ashley Rocke.
The Public Hearing began at 10:19 A.M. and was adjourned at 3:45 P.M.
