As it relates to school visits, for the National Assembly, “It’s business as usual”. The National Assembly opened its doors, once again, to conduct visits/tours to schools, organizations, and the public both at home and abroad. Starting the year 2023, in the month of February, two schools from the Belize District visited the National Assembly requesting an educational tour. These schools were Ephesus S.D.A Primary School and St. Joseph R.C. School.
On Thursday, 16th February 2023, the Ephesus S.D.A Primary School visited the National Assembly with approximately 58 students, two parents, and four teachers. While St. Joseph R.C. School had a group of roughly 91 students, 20 parents, and five teachers.
Offering both tours were Ms. Eudice Gibson, Senior Clerk Assistant, National Assembly, and Ms. Heillie Burns, Parliamentary Officer I, National Assembly. Both officers gave an in-depth and extensive presentation whereby they shared the composition of the House of Representatives and the Senate, the roles of the Members of Parliament, and how both Upper and Lower Houses operate.
The young students were very attentive throughout the presentation and were not shy to participate and ask questions.
