On Thursday, 19th September 2024, the National Assembly of Belize welcomed students from Our Lady of Guadalupe Roman Catholic Primary School and St. Matthews Government School to its new chambers.

A group of about 60 students from classes Standard 4, 5 and 6 in the company of their classroom teachers stood inside chambers where they received a presentation on the functions of the Legislative Branch of Government by Parliamentary Officers. We are also delighted to announce that these students were among the first to be given the privilege of being physically present in the chambers since the National Assembly has relocated to the George Price Centre for Peace and Development.

The students were given an opportunity to view the chambers, heard the process by which legislation is passed and learnt about the main functions of the National Assembly. The students were very interactive and did not shy away from engaging during the presentation and asking questions at the end of the presentation.
