Mrs. Clarita Pech appointed the Acting Clerk, National Assembly
1st July 2024 – Today, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Valerie Woods, as the Chair of the National Assembly Staff Committee, received the official instrument from the Governor General, Dame Froyla Tzalam, appointing Mrs. Clarita Pech as the Acting Clerk of the National Assembly of Belize.
In accordance with section 5(1) of the National Assembly Staff Act, No. 1 of 2000, of the Substantive Laws of Belize, “the Clerk and the Deputy Clerk shall be appointed by the Governor-General, acting in accordance with the advice of the National Assembly Staff Committee.” The Committee, upon receipt from the Office of the Governor General of the acceptance of the former Clerk’s resignation, discussed the need for the appointment in the interest of the continuity of the business of the National Assembly, its administration and staff services and advised that Mrs. Pech be appointed the Acting Clerk.
