Bright and early, Monday, 17th July 2017, the National Assembly welcomed the Collet “I Care” Summer Camp 2017 children, adults and Camp Director to its Chamber for a tour. The group consisting of 150 children between the ages of 6-12, 15 parents and 1 Camp Director arrived at 10:00 A.M. The group was divided into 2 and they were escorted up and seated in the gallery where the presentation took place. The presentation was conducted by Ms. Eudice Gibson, Senior Clerk Assistant, where by she gave them a brief description of the historical background of the National Assembly, the composition of the House of Representatives, the Senate, and the functions of the legislative branch of government.
The students also had the pleasure to see the Mace and were given a brief history of its historical background of the design and the significant role it plays in the sitting of the House of Representatives.
