Today Friday, 9th June 2017, the National Assembly welcomed the Our Lady of Bella Vista School from the Toledo District, to its Chamber for a school tour. The group consisting of 51 standard one students, 3 teachers and 19 parents arrived at 11:15 A.M. They were escorted up and seated in the gallery where the presentation took place. The presentation was conducted by Ms. Mary August and Ms. Ingrid Soriano, both Parliamentary Officer 1. The presentation was based on a brief description of the historical background of the National Assembly, the composition of the House of Representatives, the Senate, and the functions of the legislative branch of government.
The students also had the pleasure to see the Mace and were given a brief history of its historical background of the design and the significant role it plays in the sitting of the House of Representatives.
