On 1st December 2021, the Honourable Valerie Woods, Speaker of the House of Representatives, met with H. E. Dr. Tsai Ing-wen, President of the Republic of China (Taiwan). In her remarks, Hon. Speaker Woods said, “Globally, women in leadership are still woefully lacking, and so when there is an opportunity to recognize the achievements of the few who have braved the world of political leadership and with such determination and commitment to do better, we do so with humility and gratitude for the example shown and lessons learnt.
Hon. Speaker Woods also visited and met with H. E. Si-Kun You, President of the Legislative Yuan.
On 2nd December, she is expected to deliver the keynote speech at the 2021 Open Parliament Forum that is being held under the theme: “Open Parliament in a Post Covid Context: Global Examples of Resilience and Planning for 2022 and Beyond.”
