Today, the Senate Special Select Committee convened in the Chamber of the National Assembly of Belize in Belmopan, to continue with their investigation into the Auditor General’s Special Visa and other findings Report on the Immigration and Nationality Department for period 2011-2013.
Present to give his testimony today was Mr. Gordon Wade, Officer in Charge of the Nationality section in the Immigration Department during the time when the audit was conducted. Mr. Wade was accompanied by his Attorney, Mr. Andrew Bennett. The Committee Members had various questions to ask Mr. Wade based on findings within the Auditor General’s Report on Nationality.
At today’s hearing, Mr. Edgar Cano and Ms. Ady Pacheco were also scheduled witnesses, however they were unable to attend due to circumstances beyond their control. Therefore, the hearing began at 12: 35 P.M. upon the arrival of Mr. Gordon.
Chairman- Senator Aldo Salazar, Senator Carla Barnett, Senator Elena Smith, Senator Eamon Courtenay, and Senator Ashley Rocke, were all present at today’s meeting except for Senator Markhelm Lizarraga.
The Meeting was adjourned at 2:41 P.M.
