On Friday 2nd December 2016, the National Assembly welcomed Corozal Community College from Corozal to its Chamber for a tour. It was a very large group consisting of 200 students, therefore the tour had to be done in three groups. The first group arrived at 9:00 A.M. and were escorted up and seated in the gallery where the presentation took place. The first presentation was conducted by Ms. Eudice Gibson, Clerk Assistant and Ms. Ingrid Soriano, Parliamentary Officer 1 whereby they were given a brief description of the historical background of the National Assembly, the composition of the House of Representatives, the Senate, and the functions of the legislative branch of government.
The second presentation was done by Ms. Eudice, Clerk Assistant; Ms. Mary August, Parliamentary Officer 1, and also Mrs. Clarita Pech, Deputy Clerk who assisted in answering numerous questions that both teachers and students had.
The third presentation ended the tour whereby it was done by Ms. Gibson and Ms. August. All three groups had the pleasure of seeing the Mace and were given a brief history of its historical background of the design and the significant role it plays in the sitting of the House of Representatives.
